Living a Life that Pleases Our God

Getting Excited over God

The Lord your God is with you. The Mighty One shall save you. He shall bring gladness upon you and will renew you with His love. He will delight over you with joy as in a day of feasting. (Zephaniah 3:17 Sept.)

Glorifying God through Prayer and Worship

God delights in us

If we look at the meaning for the Hebrew word for joy in the passage above, we would discover that it means to get very emotional, even to spin around in excitement. Now, let’s remember that this passage is speaking about our God and Creator. Can you grasp the reality of our God singing and showing this kind of emotion over us? Yet, that’s what God does over his creation whom he loves. So, let’s do away with the mentality that thinks of God as some killjoy who has no emotion over us at all. For truly, God delights in us and God rejoices over us.

Our Joy for Him

Now if God shows this kind of excitement over us, shouldn’t we get excited and emotional over him as well? Shouldn’t we be rejoicing and singing at the fact that he is our awesome God and Creator in whose presents there is fullness of joy and at his right hand are pleasures forever more? And not only that, but we who are God’s children will be spending eternity with him in paradise. How neat is that? Yet do we even dare to tap our feet or clap our hands or show any kind of emotion when it comes to worshiping Him? Oh, what’s wrong with us fellow brothers and sisters in Christ? We should be doing back flips as well as summersaults (if we are able). Am I getting a little too Pentecostal for you now? Do not believe the lie that we must be reserved when it comes to worshiping and praising our God. We do need to pray and seek God’s help for us as a church to praise him with our whole being holding (9)nothing back as David did. He is so worthy, so we truly should be Getting Excited over God.

Being Contagious

Okay now having said all that, I know that if you totally let loose at your next church gathering they may escort you out the door. But it only takes a few people excited about God to get others going as well. His joy is contagious and let us pray that everybody catches it. So, go ahead and be obsessed with him and be totally addicted to serving him in love, because lets face it, living for anything else will only lead you to emptiness.

"God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands. "Nor is He worshiped with men's hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things. "And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, "so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; "for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, 'For we are also His offspring.' "Therefore, since we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, something shaped by art and man's devising. "Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, "because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead." (Acts 17:24-31 NKJV)

Over in Proverbs chapter 8, we see Jesus Christ who is personified in the usage of the word wisdom. In this chapter at verse 30 and 31 we read “I was He in whom He rejoiced; daily and continually I was gladdened by His face. When He completed the world, He rejoiced, “And He rejoiced in the sons of men.” Wow, God rejoices and delights in us his creation. I find it so comforting that God loves us and that he does delights in us. But not only that, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16). Oh, my Awesome God, you loved us so much that you’ve sent your Son to die for us sinners on the cross, and allowed him to suffer in hell in our place. But thank God, that death could not hold you Jesus and that you victoriously overcame the grave. Thank you Father for raising Jesus from the grave. We were bought at a price, so You oh God, are so worthy of all our love and attention. Amen. (For info on Jesus suffering in hell, please click on this link)

Something to think about

“Will a woman forget her child, so as not to have mercy on the offspring of her womb? But even if a woman should forget these things, nevertheless, I shall not forget you,” says the Lord. “Behold, I painted your walls on My hands, and you are continually before Me. It will be rebuilt quickly by your destroyers, and those who laid you waste shall go away from you. (Isaiah 49:15-16 Sept.) Wow, this is a beautiful picture of God always remembering His people, even at times when their enemy has done them wrong. But God will always restore us, which is proof of His care for us.

So, in conclusion to all this, let us always remember how much Jesus loves us and in like manner to be in love with him. Let the world experience our love and oneness with God and with each other so that all may see Jesus Christ in us. And let us not forget that we are the light of the world, so let the love of Jesus shine in our hearts as we tell the world about him. Our prayer and hope should always be that those who see us would see God in us, those who hear us would hear Christ speaking through us, and those who know us would know that his Spirit dwells is in us, and that they would crave what we have. Amen.

It only takes a spark to get a fire going, and soon all those around, can warm up to its glowing. That’s how it is with God’s love, once you have experienced it, you spread His love to everyone; you want to pass it on. What a wondrous time is spring, when all the trees are budding; the birds begin to sing, the flowers start their blooming. That’s how it is with God’s love; once you’ve experienced it, you want to sing “It’s fresh like spring”; you want to pass it on. I wish for you my friend, this happiness that I’ve found. You can depend on Him, it matters not where you’re bound. I’ll shout it from the mountain top – Praise God I want the world to know; the Lord of love has come to me, I want to pass it on.
